Your hosts

Aurelia & Roman.

We fell in love not only with each other, but a little with Saas-Fee, too.

Our tips
Our retreat

Two people who always come back.

We love coming to unwind at our wonderful retreat in the Valais Alps. We are passionate skiers and snowboarders. Aurelia comes from the Upper Valais and knows the region inside out. I spent vacations in Saas-Fee as a toddler and went to ski school here for the first time at age 3. We shared our parents’ passion and have been tearing up the slopes since we were little.

In summer we enjoy the many breathtaking hikes in the region. Together we climbed the Allalinhorn with a guide, an impressive 4,000-meter peak with a dreamlike view of the Matterhorn and the Mischabel range (on a clear day you can see all the way to Milan). When we are not in Saas-Fee, we like to spend our free time windsurfing, wing foiling or bouldering.

We love the atmosphere of car-free Saas-Fee. As soon as we arrive, everyday stress falls away and relaxation begins. The air is wonderfully pure. A meal at one of our favorite places or a sauna session at one of the public spas invites you to slow down completely.

Personal tips

Where we like to go.

Restaurants, wellness, slopes, hikes, après-ski and cafés: our favorites in Saas-Fee.

Food

Our favorite restaurants.

There are lots of great restaurants in Saas-Fee. These days Chez Roli is our clear favorite: super tasty raclette and bowls, other great dishes too, and above all incredibly warm hosts. We keep coming back.

The Del Ponte pizzeria at the Walliserhof is definitely a favorite. The pizzas are made in an open wood-fired oven you can watch, which creates a wonderful atmosphere.

We also love going back to the Waldhüs Bodmen. Just the walk through the snowy forest is a highlight. It also has an open stable where you can watch cute dwarf rabbits and guinea pigs.

The Essstube is an experience every time, too. Above all, the creatively plated food makes the evening unforgettable.

Wellness

Wellness & slowing down.

Generally we relax very well while doing things like skiing, snowboarding, hiking, climbing or simply having a coffee in a nice restaurant. If the day ends at a wellness oasis, it is even more perfect. In Saas-Fee several hotels open their spa to people who are not staying at the hotel.

Aqua Allalin is a modern spa. During the season, several sauna infusion sessions are offered in the early evening. After 7 p.m. the crowds often thin out quickly, which makes for perfect relaxation.

The Schweizerhof also has a comfortable, very well-equipped spa, and the Hotel Pirmin Zurbriggen in Saas-Almagell is said to welcome outside guests too (we have not been there ourselves yet).

The Walliserhof used to be our favorite spa: very beautiful and with lots of options. Since the admission prices for outside guests have gone up sharply, we sadly no longer go.

For a great day trip, the Brigerbad thermal baths down in the Rhône Valley are well worth it: warm outdoor pools, a grotto bath and a long thermal-water slide, open year-round.

We always check day-guest access, opening hours and prices directly with the providers.

Slopes

Our favorite runs.

Saas-Fee has perfectly groomed slopes. One of our favorites is definitely the Gletscherpromenade and the Gletscherband: these runs are wide and great for carving.

After fresh snow, the National or the Weisse Perle are dreamy freeride paradises. Away from the secured runs we pay attention to the avalanche situation and only go with the right experience and equipment and, if needed, with a mountain guide.

Hohsaas (Saas-Grund) also shines with great ski and sledding runs. In December and January the area gets much more sun, and there are often far fewer people on the slopes. A shuttle bus runs from the Alpin Express directly to Saas-Grund.

Hiking

Our hikes.

Saas-Fee offers a wide range of hiking routes of varying difficulty. A long, beautiful hike leads to Grächen, across the high mountains of the Saas Valley. Easy hikes go around Lake Mattmark, which is very impressive with its setting and the exhibit on how it came to be.

A shorter hike to the glacier grotto is also very impressive, followed by the climb to the marmot trail. The marmots at Spielboden are a real highlight. We especially like watching them in the morning and follow the guidelines on site.

Another beautiful tour across the glacier is the Allalinhorn. We climbed it in summer with a mountain guide, rope and crampons, an unforgettable day with a dreamlike view.

The multi-day Saas hut tour (Weissmies hut, Almageller hut, Britannia hut, Mischabel hut) shows the high-alpine side of the Saas-Fee/Saastal vacation region.

Evenings

Nightlife & après-ski.

There are several options for a great night out in Saas-Fee. Above all, après-ski at the Larix or the other spots around the glacier bridge make for a lively party.

Farther into the village, the Walliserhof sometimes hosts a classy après-ski with live music. A highlight is the end-of-season party in Saas-Fee, which draws lots of people from all over the valley. The village street turns into one big festival.

In the evening, Project-X and several cool bars like the Old Cinema are the places to party.

Coffee

Our favorite cafés.

We love a good cup of coffee. Here are some of our favorite cafés:

12-inch Coffee. Right in the heart of Saas-Fee, 12-inch Coffee has a cozy atmosphere. Guests can enjoy not only excellent coffee but also a selection of snacks and pastries.

Summit Coffee and Lounge. With a modern, cozy interior, Summit Coffee and Lounge has a great vibe, and the relaxed atmosphere invites you to linger. Perfect for a break after an active day in the mountains.

The Coffee House. Another tip for coffee lovers: excellent coffee in a very cozy setting, plus a great selection of coffee specialties, tasty cakes and snacks.

Frederiks. Besides coffee, Frederiks also serves a small, tasty menu. In summer we love the big ice cream sundaes; in winter you can warm up with a delicious soup.

My dad

Never2old.

My dad is over 80 and still enjoys the wonderful slopes of Saas-Fee. Congratulations! I really hope I can still do that, too.
